Facility Clearances
Obtaining a Facility Clearance (FCL) is a vital milestone for any organization working with classified contracts — but the process can be complex and time-consuming. Security First & Associates provides expert, hands-on guidance through every phase, helping your company achieve and maintain compliance with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) requirements and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
Your Partner in Security Processing
With more than two decades of experience supporting cleared facilities, Security First & Associates has developed proven strategies to make the FCL process as seamless as possible. Our consultants act as your liaison with DCSA, guiding you from initial sponsorship through final approval and beyond.
Our Facility Clearance Process
- Sponsorship
The FCL process begins when a government agency or prime contractor sponsors your company, establishing a verified need to access classified information. - Submission of Required Documentation
We help you prepare and submit all necessary documents, including the sponsorship letter, Department of Defense Form 254 (DD 254), and related forms that define the scope and classification level of your work. - Initial Review
DCSA reviews your submission for completeness and accuracy. Our consultants ensure every form and attachment meets DCSA expectations to prevent delays. - Security Review and Survey
DCSA conducts a security review — often including a telephonic or virtual survey — to evaluate your company’s readiness and identify any additional documentation requirements. We guide you through this step to ensure you’re fully prepared. - Facility Security Officer (FSO) Appointment
Your organization must designate a qualified FSO to oversee your security program. Security First & Associates can train and support your FSO or provide interim staffing to meet DCSA requirements. - Personnel Clearances (PCLs)
Key Management Personnel (KMP) must obtain personnel security clearances to handle classified information. We assist with DISS, NISS, and NBIS transactions to ensure background investigations and clearances are completed efficiently. - Final Approval and Issuance
Once all requirements are met, DCSA grants the Facility Clearance, authorizing your company to access and safeguard classified information as outlined in the DD 254.
Ongoing Compliance
After your clearance is issued, ongoing compliance is critical. We offer continued support for periodic reviews, security education, and program updates to maintain your FCL in good standing.
